Explore the Craft of Woodworking at Our Ottawa Store August 16 & 17

Lee Valley has collaborated with the Ottawa Woodworkers Association (OWA) to present the first ever Woodworking and Hand Tools Event with the goal of bringing woodworkers together.

Join us at our Ottawa store for this special two day event on Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Here's what you can expect:



Veritas Open Box Specials: Shop a selection of manufacturing seconds with minor cosmetic flaws at discounted prices.

Antique Wooden Hand Planes Sale: Shop from our own Lee Valley collection.

Meet the Designer: Meet and greet with a Veritas senior industrial designer.

Woodworking Competition: Compete for one of three trophy titles and win a prize pack. Hosted and administered by OWA.

Live Demonstrations: Try your hand at pyrography and join the OWA to discover joinery techniques using traditional hand tools.

Expert Guidance: Our trusted advisors will be ready to answer your questions, offering personalized advice to help you choose the right tools for the job.

The Wood Source: The Ottawa-based wood supplier will be selling specialty wood pieces at the Wood Source tent.

No registration is required; however, pre-registration is encouraged and those pre-registering will be entered to win a Lee Valley Sweater.

OWA Woodworking Competition


Ottawa Woodworkers Association (OWA) is hosting a woodworking competition where woodworkers can compete for one of three OWA trophy titles.

OWA Woodworking Competition participants must drop off their entries at the OWA tent at the Ottawa store parking lot, from 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, until noon on Saturday, August 17.

Each category winner will receive a Lee Valley prize pack and one of three OWA trophy titles.

Submissions will be assessed and awarded in the following categories:

  • The Lee Valley Trophy recognizes an outstanding project by a student woodworker. Judging will take place Saturday, August 17, at 4:00 p.m.

  • The Fuji Spray Trophy is awarded for best project in an open category. Judging will take place Saturday, August 17, at 4:00 p.m.

  • The Ottawa Woodworkers Association Trophy is the people’s choice award. Ballots will be available for any attendee to vote on their favorite project on display.

    • Attendees will be able to start voting on Friday, August 16, at 9:00 a.m. until Saturday, August 17, at 3:45 p.m.To increase your chances of winning the People's Choice Award, we encourage you to enter as early as Friday, August 16, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the OWA tent. This will give all event attendees the opportunity to cast their ballots.

Participants must pick up their entries by 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, or make arrangements with OWA.
